Don Harvey
Drummer, composer and entrepreneur Don Harvey co-founded The SIMS Foundation in 1995 and was co-proprietor of the Austin Rehearsal Complex (the ARC), Austin’s music hub throughout the 1990’s. The legendary studio was home to almost every band in the city. The ARC Angels honored the studio with their name.
Don has performed on The Late Show with David Letterman, PBS’s Austin City Limits and opened for the Rolling Stones with Ian McLagan on the Bigger Bang Tour’s Zilker Park show. He has toured internationally with Charlie Sexton, Billy Bragg, Joe Ely, Ian McLagan & Ronnie Lane (Faces), Martha Davis (The Motels) and Iain Matthews (Fairport Convention) among others. Harvey performed with Bruce Springsteen in Dublin, Wilco & Billy Bragg in New York, Pete Townshend in Austin and Ronnie Wood in Houston.
His instrumental ensemble, ‘A is Red’ won “Best Avant Garde Band” and Don took “Best Drummer” honors at the Austin Music Awards in 2014 and 2007, respectively. He has released two critically acclaimed solo records, “Light Shines Through” and “A Dance in Red” which was a Top-10 pick on KUT, NPR Austin in 2009.
Don is an award-winning real estate advisor. In 2003 he founded ‘Austin Music Realty Group,’ expert Realtors all of whom are highly regarded musicians with deep roots in Austin’s music and arts communities.
