Alexander Koffler

A native New Yorker who now makes his home in Austin, TX.

Alexander is a multi-disciplinary artist, a musician and composer, award-winning director, cinematographer and editor. Through his observational-poetic style and journalistic approach, Alexander is able to reveal inner personalities and truths within his subjects. His images capture moments in time, allowing him to discover the most poignant reflection of the human spirit. Current projects include the feature-length documentary Born With It, featuring Grammy-nominee Cedric Burnside.

Work assignments have taken him from rural India to the rice fields of Bali to the plight of troubled youth in South Central, L.A., to the indigenous populations of New Mexico and through the bayous of the deep South. Critics and colleagues have praised him as a director of unique and talented vision, and a documentarian who conveys a strong sense of the people and places he covers.

Alexander began working on this project only weeks before the tragic loss of his brother Ben, a fellow musician, to suicide.
